You can control the order and names of tabs on your Ning Network and can also adjust the color of sub-tabs you add. To make any of these changes, click the “Tabs & Pages” link in your My Network tab under the Settings section.
Rename a Tab
To rename a tab, click on the tab you’d like to rename in the tabs list on the left. In the “Tab Information” section in the right column of the page, edit the “Tab Name” field.
Click the “Save” button when you are finished renaming your tabs.
Rearrange Tabs
You can change the order of tabs on your Ning Network by clicking on any tab on this page that you’d like to move and dragging it to its desired location.
When your tabs are in the order you’d like them to appear in, click “Save.”
Control Tab and Sub-tab Settings
You can add up to 15 sub-tabs to any top-level tab on your Ning Network. To add a sub-tab from an existing top-level tab, click on the tab in the left column and then check the “Make this a sub-tab” box in the right column. If this is a new tab, click the “Add New Tab” link at the top of the tabs list and then click the sub-tab button on the right.
Sub-tabs can be renamed and dragged and dropped into position just like any top-level tab. Be sure to click “Save Tab Settings” when you’re done.
To customize tabs’ or sub-tabs’ text and background colors, head over to the Design Studio and open the Customize panel. Click on the “Tabs” link to open up these options. The default color is how the tabs and sub-tabs appear without clicking or doing anything to them. The hover color appears as you scroll over the tab or sub-tab.
Create Custom Tabs
If you want to add custom tabs or sub-tabs that link members to content they’ve created on the network, just go to the Tabs & Pages manager and click on the “Add New Tab” link. In the Tab Information section, select the radio button next to “Use Existing URL”. In the space provided, enter the URL (just the tail end will do!) and save your changes. Here is a list of some custom tabs you might want to add:
My Page: /profiles
My Blogs: /profiles/blog/list?my=1
My Groups: /groups/group/listforContributor
My Discussions: /forum/topic/listforContributor
My Videos: /video/video/listforContributor
My Events: /events/event/listUserEvents
