The Spam Folder is a great tool at your disposal for protecting your network from spammy forum discussions. This tool checks a discussion that has been added to the Forum feature for content which our spam classification system considers spammy. If it looks spammy, we mark it as such, and place it in a special administrative folder for you. You can view this folder by clicking on your My Network tab to go to your network’s dashboard. From there, click on the “Spam Folder” link in the Content section. The Spam Folder is where you will be able to see content we’ve marked as spammy.
To manage this folder’s content, you can do one of three things:
- Mark content that’s ended up here as “Not Spam”, which will remove it from the Spam Folder and add it to the network.
- Mark content as “Spam” and delete the content.
- Mark content as “Spam,” delete the content and suspend the member.
Content in this folder will not be visible to members on the network. When someone posts content that looks suspicious to Ning, they’ll see a warning message that we’ve marked this post as spam until a moderator approves it. Their post also won’t be visible to others and won’t show up in the listing page for the feature they tried to add content to.
Our spam classification tools are top-notch, so content that ends up in the Spam Folder will most likely be spam. Content that is placed here in this folder will remain accessible to the Network Creator for 14 days. After 14 days, any content that has not been acted on will automatically be deleted from the network. This action cannot be undone. As a result, you’ll want to make sure to check this folder and mark any legitimate content as “Not Spam” to remove it from this folder and add it to the network.
The Spam Folder is accessible to the Network Creator and any administrators you’ve appointed on the network.
