Use these troubleshooting pointers to quickly get to the bottom of anything that doesn’t seem right on your site. Can’t seem to shoot down the trouble yourself? Contact us! We’ll help you take aim and get the problem solved.
Trouble signing up or signing in?
These days, nearly everyone on the planet has a few dozen email/password combinations to remember, so sign-in type issues are understandably a common problem. Our first piece of advice: Reset your password. In most cases, that will solve your issue. We’ll send you an email with a link to reset your password. If that doesn’t work, check out the Troubleshooting Sign-up/Sign-in Issues article for a few more troubleshooting steps.
Is it browser-related?
Most browsers work just fine with your network, but we have a list of officially Supported Browsers that we wholeheartedly recommend. If some parts of your page won’t load, if a button doesn’t seem to work, or if things that should move aren’t moving, there’s a good chance it’s a browser-related issue that can be easily rectified. Want to know for sure? Follow the steps in our Troubleshoot Browser Related Issues article.
Missing email notifications or invitations
Not receiving all of the email notifications? Worried that invitations you’ve sent out aren’t getting delivered? We have a checklist to help you Troubleshoot Email Notifications and Invitations.
Problems with a Facebook App
There are two different types of Facebook Apps you can create with your Ning Network: a Facebook App for sharing and a Facebook app for sign-up/sign-in. The creation of either of these two types of apps requires you to link the app to a personal Facebook account. To get to the bottom of any error messages you may be seeing, start at the Troubleshoot Your Facebook Sharing App page. If you feel like your issue may be related to sign-up or sign-in with Facebook, check the settings from this Enable Social Sign-In with Facebook article. If you think the issue is related solely to sharing via a Facebook app, we recommend double checking all of the settings from the original Create a Facebook App process.
Domain mapping issues
The details of domain mapping can be complicated. Part of the complication comes from the fact that all domains need to be set up on a third-party site — in addition to configuring the details on your Ning dashboard. If you’ve set up a custom domain but it doesn’t appear to be working, are having trouble forwarding a domain, or need to understand the difference between an A Record and and MX Record, start here and Troubleshoot Domain Mapping Issues.
Reaching the Ning support team directly
If you ever feel like something on your site isn’t working as expected — or even if you just have a question about how something should work or want some friendly advice — the Ning Advocacy team is here to help. You can always send us a message by heading to the Support link on your administrative dashboard. If you’re a Ning Pro customer, you can also reach us by phone at the number listed on your Support page. We’ll do our best to get you on track for success!
Billing and invoicing questions?
You’ll find all of your billing and invoicing details for your Network Creator account at www.ning.com. Most of it should be pretty straightforward, but if you have questions, we can help you Troubleshoot Billing Issues. You can also reach our billing department directly by calling the number on the Support area of your dashboard.
Beating spam
Preventing Spam is a challenge we’ve embraced wholeheartedly on the Ning platform. We’ve added tools and settings you can easily turn on to put the brakes on spam. Are you using all of them? Turn them on and give spam a serious smack-down!”
Missing Main Page?
Accidentally delete the tab for your network’s Main Page? It’s easy to add it back.
Know your limits
Ever wondered how many invitations you can send out in one month? How many characters you can enter into a Text Box? Feel like you might have reached some kind of limit with some detail of your site? We’ve collected common requests from Network Creators when they’ve often asked us: “What’s the limit?“
